Why This One?
When the P320-XFIVE DH3 landed on our bench, we immediately recognized it as a purpose-built tool. This isn’t a casual range toy; it’s a competition pistol designed from the ground up for USPSA Carry Optics and similar disciplines. In our hands, the balance and aggressive grip texture communicated serious intent. We’ve found that its reputation for a fast break-in period is accurate—most of our customers report it’s running smoothly within the first few hundred rounds. With a customer satisfaction rating of 4.7 out of 5 across 38 buyers, the feedback is overwhelmingly positive, with specific praise for its reliable function and the value it delivers at this price point. Perhaps most telling is our internal record: we’ve had zero warranty claims on this product in over a year of selling it.

Honest Assessment
After handling dozens of these and listening to customer feedback, here’s our straightforward take.
✅ Pros:
- Exceptional Out-of-Box Package: Three 21-round magazines, an optic mounting plate, and a competition-ready flat trigger mean you can hit the ground running. This is a major point our customers appreciate.
- Superb Grip and Balance: The DH3 grip module is no joke. The aggressive texture provides a locked-in feel, and the 5-inch bull barrel gives the pistol a forward-heavy balance that manages recoil effectively. We measured the weight distribution, and it’s clearly designed for fast, flat shooting.
- Proven Reliability: This is where our sales data speaks volumes. In over a year of stocking it, we’ve processed zero warranty returns for this model. Customers consistently report it feeds, fires, and ejects without issue.
- Fast Break-In: Unlike some competition guns that need hundreds of rounds to smooth out, feedback indicates the DH3 is typically reliable and smooth within the first few boxes of ammunition.
- Excellent Value: For the features you get relative to the price, it’s a strong contender. You’re getting a lot of gun for the money, which is a common piece of praise we hear.
❌ Cons:
- Aggressive Grip Texture: For some, the DH3 module’s texture can be too aggressive for extended practice sessions or concealed carry (though that’s not its intended role). It’s a trade-off for maximum control.
- Size and Weight: This is a full-size, competition-focused pistol. It’s large, not meant for everyday carry, and the magwell funnel, while great for reloads, adds to the bulk.
- Manual Safety: The model includes a manual safety, which some competition shooters immediately remove. It’s an extra step, but one that some prefer.
Who Should / Shouldn’t Buy
Buy the P320-XFIVE DH3 if: You are a USPSA or similar action pistol competitor looking for a ready-to-race platform in Carry Optics or Limited Optics divisions. You want a pistol that requires minimal upgrades out of the box. You appreciate an aggressive, non-slip grip for maximum control during fast stages. You value proven reliability based on real-world use, not just marketing claims.
Skip the P320-XFIVE DH3 if: You are looking for a concealed carry or home defense pistol—it’s too large and specialized. You prefer a milder, more rounded grip texture. Your budget is strictly for a bare-bones firearm, and you plan to build up slowly over time. You are new to shooting and want a more general-purpose, all-around handgun for learning fundamentals.
Q & A
Is the P320-XFIVE DH3 optics-ready?
Yes. The slide comes cut from the factory to accept a Sig Sauer Romeo3Max or similar optic footprint. An adapter plate is included in the case. We’ve mounted several optics for customers, and the system is solid.
What is the trigger pull weight?
The factory-adjusted flat-faced trigger typically breaks between 3.5 and 4.5 pounds. It’s a significant step up from a standard service pistol trigger and is well-suited for competition right out of the box.
Can I use standard P320 magazines?
Yes, but with a caveat. Standard 17-round P320 magazines will fit and function, but they will not seat with the magazine well funnel attached. The DH3 comes with three proprietary 21-round magazines designed to work with the flared magwell.
Is it reliable with all types of ammunition?
In our experience and based on consistent customer feedback, yes. It has reliably cycled everything from 115-grain FMJ practice ammo to 147-grain competition loads. Its track record for reliability is a key reason it’s become a steady seller for us.
Where can I buy P320-XFIVE DH3 online?
You can purchase it right here from P80Kit. We are a licensed FFL based in Redding, CA. When you order, it will be shipped to your local FFL dealer for the required background check and transfer. We’ve sold dozens of these with great feedback.
Can the manual safety be removed?
Yes, it can be removed. The pistol will function perfectly without it. Many competition shooters choose to do this. The process requires some basic gunsmithing knowledge or a visit to a qualified gunsmith.
What holster fits the P320-XFIVE DH3?
Due to the 5-inch slide, flared magwell, and thumb rest on the DH3 grip, you need a holster specifically designed for the XFIVE or a competition-style holster with an open bottom. Standard P320 holsters will likely not fit.
